Welcome to the New Evolution

Trae Blain LogoAs you can see, I’ve changed my website again. Maybe it’s because I like to tinker, or maybe I just can’t find my website’s identity, but I haven’t stayed on one design for much longer then 6-7 months. I’ve built this one with the requirement that I had to stick with the general design for at least a year.  So it’s set.

I’ve constructed it around simple identity aggregation (aka lifestreaming) for the main page and easily links to the major pieces of the site. I moved the blog to Tumblr because I had to get out of the bloat of Wordpress. Let’s get this straight, I love Wordpress; but the community thrives around adding features. Wordpress is becoming more useful for large community blogs and doesn’t cater well to John Q. Blogger. I wanted to move to Chyrp, but learning a new theming engine right now was not my desire. So instead I moved to Tumblr, I love the engine and decided to risk the change from self-hosting.

Using Tumblr will allow me to post more often and shorter nicer posts. I’ll still have the nice thoughtful posts from time to time, but I’m excited about this change. Hopefully soon Tumblr will integrate tag relationships (come on guys, you’re prime set for related post tools), yet I’ll struggle through right now.

Bear with my growing pains, Google hasn’t crawled the site yet so my search results are very bad. Give it some time and it will get there.
